Dreamy & Romantic Farm Wedding by Vanilla Photography {Sherri & Jacques}

Dreamy & Romantic Farm Wedding by Vanilla Photography {Sherri & Jacques} | SouthBound Bride

I love hearing stories of high school sweethearts who grow up and get married, don’t you? Although, I should add, that I also thank the good lord for not making me personally end up with any of the boys I liked in high school. Let’s just say… well, let’s not just say. But no. Today’s couple, on the other hand, are one of those sweet success stories – and eight years down the line they tied the knot on the same farm where they built a home, the same home where Jacques proposed. Isn’t that so lovely? And even though this was a farm wedding with a touch of rustic, Sherri had the romantic wedding style down to a tee. Amongst many, my favourite detail is the little calligraphed glass cloche table numbers – the sort of special touch that makes my heart happy, and perfectly finishes off a perfectly wonderful day. The always-awesome Vanilla Photography were there to take these super dreamy pics. Read more

Elegant Waterfront Wedding at the One & Only Cape Town by Lindy Photography {Olivia & Salubona}

Elegant Waterfront Wedding at the One & Only Cape Town by Lindy Photography {Olivia & Salubona} | SouthBound Bride

Today’s wedding is all about modern elegance and simplicity. Against the breathtaking backdrop of the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, Salubona and Olivia celebrated their wedding with family and friends, taking full advantage of the Mother City’s abundant natural charms. Just looking at the light glinting off the water, at Table Mountain striking a pose in the background, at the range of guests suited up in both fashion-forward and traditional Swazi attire, reminds me what makes Cape Town so special. I love that Olivia and Salubona let this vibrant city speak for itself, accenting it with graceful white flowers, navy suits for the boys, and pretty baby blue for the bridesmaids. Like Olivia’s philosophy on her gorgeous wedding dress – she wanted to wear the dress, not let it wear her – this couple struck the perfect balance with their nuptial style, and the fab Lindy Kannemeyer of Lindy Photography was on hand to capture every sun-kissed, romantic moment. Blush Forest Beloftebos Wedding by Charlene Schreuder {Chloe & Gus}

Blush Forest Beloftebos Wedding by Charlene Schreuder {Chloe & Gus} | SouthBound Bride

Man alive, I can’t get enough of this wedding you guys! It starts with a TO DIE FOR Kobus Dippenaar dress, blush hydrangea bouquets (mixed in with roses on the tables for maximum pretty), lace bunting, a boho flower crown, a cheese cake, and of course the incredible forest ceremony area for which Beloftebos is rightfully famous. But I have to admit, I keep going back to that dress, because it’s the embodiment of everything I love about Chloe and Gus’ wedding design – and I especially love how the petal detailing reflects those gorgeous hydrangeas. Of course, a wedding is so much more than the design, and that’s where photography talent Charlene Schreuder comes in. She has an incredible eye not just for beautiful images, but for those special moments that make a big day memorable – not just the lovely little details we plan and pin for, but life’s lovely little details too. Today we don’t have info from the bride to share, but I’ve made up for it with a bumper crop of images! Read more

Intimate Boho Bright Garden Wedding by Riekert Cloete {Lise & Gary]

Intimate Boho Bright Garden Wedding by Riekert Cloete {Lise & Gary] | SouthBound Bride

Back in the day when my mom and dad got married, there was none of this whole weekend, hundreds of people at your wedding thing going on. They had a morning wedding and a brunch in my grandparents’ garden. Me, I was a little girl when Princess Diana got married, and from then on, big weddings were the THING. So when I heard about my folks’ wedding, at first I just thought shame*. But I’ve got to tell you, as I’ve done this wedding blogging thing over the years, I’ve found a certain appeal in those intimate backyard/garden weddings. Something incredibly charming about celebrating this huge, momentous thing and then sitting down around a table small enough to talk to everyone there. How wonderful must that feel? Today’s couple opted for just this kind of wedding – in fact, it might be the most intimate wedding I’ve ever featured at just fourteen people including the bride and groom. But it is full of heart, and colour, and family and love. Not to mention all things bright and boho, and the most incredible vintagey dress. I adore every one of Riekert Cloete’s gorgeous photos, which really bring Lise and Gary’s big day to life. Oh, and their how-they-met story? Total Hollywood! Read more

Vintage Farm-style Klipskuur Wedding by Open Image Photography {Nadine & Joe}

Vintage Farm style Klipskuur Wedding by Open Image Photography {Nadine & Joe} | SouthBound Bride

Today’s bride and groom were all about the farm wedding – love that. Nadine grew up on a farm and she wanted to bring this treasured part of her childhood into her wedding to the love of her life. With a down-home rustic venue, handmade vintagey details, and fynbos, the couple really brought the sweet simplicity of country life to their big day, along with a happy, relaxed vibe that made everyone warm and welcome. It’s this sort of personal approach to a wedding that makes it a huge, wonderful celebration for a couple and heir nearest and dearest, a part of themselves that they share with those they love. And that’s what this wedding business is all about, right? Open Image Photography were on the scene to capture every fun and heartfelt moment. Read more

French Copper Café Felix Wedding by Moira West {Liezel & Christo}

French Copper Café Felix Wedding by Moira West {Liezel & Christo} | SouthBound Bride

Do I ever have a treat for you all  today. This is the kind of wedding that makes my little heart leap for joy – it’s beautiful, it’s original and it has tons of personality. It might just be my favourite winter wedding yet. Bride Liezel (who totally reminds me of the gorgeous Hayden Panettiere, no?) is a lover of everything French, and together with her sister (who is one of the ladies behind Dear Idea flowers, decor and styling), she combined this provincial country flare with a warm winter palette that included copper and antique gold, together with white, green, tiny pops of yellow and cool navy for the bridesmaids. I am crazy in love with the aloes on the tables, the wreaths carried by the girls, and Liezel’s dress and gold fern hair embellishment. Everywhere you look there’s something else to love, and especially with the incredible Moira West‘s atmospheric photos. Man, I love my job. Read more

Olive & Navy Tokara Wedding by Aglow Photography {Tamsyn & Gerrit}

Olive & Navy Tokara Wedding by Aglow Photography {Tamsyn & Gerrit} | SouthBound Bride

Maybe it’s the Italian in me, but I just LOVE olive leaves used as an accent on wedding tables, and today’s vineyard wedding does it beautifully. Add to that classic olive green a palette of navy and white, as well as the smell of fresh herbs and sunshine in the air, and you have an incredible, elegant wedding with a soft Mediterranean touch. Adore it, simple as that. But let’s not forget to mention some of the other fabulous details. The DRESS, wow. Sparkly shoes, letterpress stationery with a navy wax seal, a gorgeous cheese cake, a blue Mustang… It’s wedding perfection, and photographed to perfection too, by the talented Celeste of Aglow Photography. Coral & Mint Groenrivier Wedding by CB Memories Photography {Vanessa & Andre}

Coral & Mint Groenrivier Wedding by CB Memories Photography {Vanessa & Andre} | SouthBound Bride

I clearly remember the first time that coral and mint entered my colour vocabulary, because not only did I love the cool combo, but every time I used the colours in an inspiration board, I’d get dozens of likes and shares. It’s definitely a happy-making mix, and yet I haven’t seen too many brides and grooms actually using it for their weddings, which allows it to still be fresh and surprising for your guests. Winner winner, chicken dinner. So of course when I came across Vanessa and Andre’s coral and mint wedding, photographed by Chenel of CB Memories Photography, I just had to share it with you all! I loved how V + A used a monochrome background with just soft pops of the statement colours to liven it up, which makes for a very classic but not too formal wintery look. Read more

Rustic Charm Rockhaven Wedding by Natural Light Photography {Joelle & Richard}

Rustic Charm Rockhaven Wedding by Natural Light Photography {Joelle & Richard} | SouthBound Bride

Hey lovelies, we’re running a bit late today as Auntie Gabs is under the weather, boo. But I can’t help but be cheered up significantly by today’s beautiful, sunshiney wedding – it’s like a summer afternoon all wrapped up into one pretty rustic package. Joelle is a true SouthBound Bride – not only was she a reader leading up to her beautiful country wedding, but we helped her find her exquisite wedding dress, by the talented Elbeth Gillis (yay, we love Elbeth). So it’s no surprise that I’m crazy in love with Joelle’s style – the soft palette, the little natural details, and of course the dreamiest photographs by SBB fave Maree Louw of Natural Light Photography. All just sooooo beautiful! Read more

Protea Pink Neethlingshof Estate Wedding by Nadine Aucamp {Larize & Jacques}

Protea Pink Neethlingshof Estate Wedding by Nadine Aucamp {Larize & Jacques} | SouthBound Bride

You KNOW how much we love proteas here on SBB. Just when I think I may have seen enough of them, I buy a bunch and fall in love all over again. They’re like the mafia that way… just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in… ;) And today’s wedding shows you just why – not only do they make for lovely bouquets, they were the colour inspiration for the sweet mint and pink palette. I love the way these shades were brought in at the reception, against a cool backdrop of white on white, with lovely mint wood board runners, iced cookie favours, and even a ruffled pink cake topped with blushing brides (making another appearance in the bride’s hair, love!). Nadine Aucamp has captured the big day beautifully, adding a sprinkle of magic and romance to her images that perfectly reflects the love Larize and Jacques share.
