I’ve Got the Key… I’ve Got the Secret…

(Yes, I totally just showed my age with that title there.)

If you’re a regular reader of wedding blogs, you’ll definitely have seen this little trend popping up before. Skeleton keys are all over the place, and I just love them! Not only do they have that charming vintage, Secret Gardeney feel, but they can be easy to source and as you’ll see before, they make charming escort card displays. You don’t need to go ultra-vintage either – more modern keys could also work in the right setting.

The door escort chart above from Jessica Claire‘s own wedding (above, right) is my absolute favourite – I love how the gold calligraphy, written directly on to the distressed wood, combines with the keys to create the ultimate in whimsy.

Add little tags to each key with the guests’ names…

Then find somewhere suitable to place all the keys. Doors are an obvious (and adorable) choice, either straight up…

or propped up…

LOVE this wooden gate idea…

And frames look super pretty too…

Keys can also look lovely as part of your table decor. Attached to bottles…

Or simply in a pretty bowl as a centrepiece.

And why not include a key in your Save the Date? Sooooo cute!

Are you using keys as part of your wedding? How will you include them?

I have tried looking around for some keys without any luck. Does anyone know where they can be found in Cape Town?
