Green Gem Engagement Rings

Josephine Art Deco Old European Cut Diamond and Emerald Engagement Ring by Victor Barbone Jewelry

I’ve got to tell you, I am LOVING this whole trend of alternative engagement rings. I mean, don’t get me wrong, diamonds are gorgeous, but then again, so are the many alternative stones that you can use. I am such a jewellery girl myself, and seeing what the options are once a bride opens up to something different has me in full-scale “ooh, I want that!” mode. Take this collection from Etsy, for example. Green stones aren’t an automatic choice for an engagement, sure. And when I think green stones, I only really think emerald (which I love). But tsavorite, sapphire, moissanite, peridot… it’s a whole ‘nother world. From platinum to rose gold to yellow, the options are kind of endless, and you’re sure to fall in love with at least one of them – I know I did! (Links in bold denote affiliate links. Oceanside Greenery Wedding in Mozambique by Marne Photography

As we end of another week we’re in for a treat, since today’s wedding combines both greenery (this month’s theme, after all!) and a trip to tropical Mozam for a gorgeously intimate oceanside bash! Michelle and Jacques picked an elegant beachy resort for their destination-I-do, filled it with green foliage and crisp white linens (and a touch of smart navy) and then threw a fabulous party under the fairy lights and the stars. And today we get to be their special guests, thanks to these lovely pics by Marne Photography!

Minimalist Chic Wedding Inspiration

In between all the lush extra-ness of weddings these days, one word I keep hearing is ‘minimalist’ (actually, I keep hearing minimalistic – not a word people, look it up). And this less-is-more approach is what today’s inspiration is all about. Clean lines, geometric shapes, bold florals. It may be simple, but WOW does it ever make a statement! Beautifully put together by Coral of Epanouir flower studio and photographed by Debbie Lourens, this pared down style is one of the key looks of the moment, so if you’re the kind of bride who’d rather wear a slip than a ballgown, carry a single bloom instead of a cascade, and rolls your eyes when you see a flower wall, this one’s for you.

Winter Boho Wedding at The Dairy Shed by Tiffany B Photography

When a wedding is held at one of our absolute favourite venues, you know you’re in for a treat! Nick and Candice picked The Dairy Shed in Durbanville for their big day and then filled this rustic chic venue with the most gorgeous opulent organic flowers, from a chandelier overflowing with greenery and rich wintery burgundy and pink blooms, to a circular floral arch that has me utterly smitten! And when Candice walked down the aisle in her breathtaking Cindy Bam gown (along with her bridesmaids rocking their Jacoba frocks!) it heralded the start of an unforgettable winters day that went on through the glamorous reception onto the outdoor dancefloor, which the lovebirds opened in style. And hello, donut wall! Love everything about this, including the gorgeous pics captured by Tiffany B.

I’m sure when you see today’s wedding, it won’t surprise you that what first caught my breath when I saw it was Danielle’s incredible rose gold sequin gown. I mean, wowsers. Summer Green Wedding Inspiration

Happy new month, lovelies! We’re easing into a new editorial theme for this month, and I’m super excited to be covering everything green, greenery and especially Pantone’s Colour of the Year, also called Greenery. It’s going to be a month of serene greens! And we’re starting it off with this sweet bridal shoot from the wonderful Vicky Bergallo Photography and her team, which captures the lovely feeling of a long summer afternoon, dear friends, and gorgeous boho fashion. We’re also more than a little in love with the sweetly delicate stationery details, which perfectly complement the florals, and the relaxed ambience (not to mention the scene stealing flower girl!). The inspiration, according to Vicky, was “a lovely afternoon at Salt + Stone boutique venue, feminine boho dresses, and light and airy photos!” Let’s get our green on!

Rustic Rose Gold Wedding at Tuin van Eden by Aline Photography

Happy Friday, loves! This whole month, we’ve been focusing on fairytales, but today we’re sharing a wedding that starts like a real life fairytale. Imagine a singer on a stage, looking out over the audience. And there, looking up at him, he sees her. Love at first sight. That’s the incredible story of how Hendrik met Claudette, and it culminated in a magical forest wedding (as all good fairytales do) and a rustic reception filled with DIY details and rose gold/copper sparkle. And here’s another thing that makes today’s wedding, with its gorgeous pics by Aline Photography, stand out – we often hear the story from the bride’s perspective, but today it’s all Hendrik sharing his perspective. Love that! And love these two cuties and their great big joyous smiles. Look out for lots of pinnable details – a fabulous ceremony area with eucalyptus lined doorway, lace tambourines for extra post-ceremony celebration, a rose gold buttercream cake, sparkly rose gold table numbers… there’s even a rose gold bicycle for the cutest reception entrance! All made by the couple and their talented friends and family – amazing!

Beauty & the Beast Modern Luxe Wedding Inspiration

At the start of this month, we shared some inspiration that imagined Beauty & the Beast (the fairytale du jour) as an organic-with-a-touch-of-glam forest fantasy. So it only seems appropriate that as we close out June, we’re going back to the same fairytale, but this time for a completely different imagining of this celebrated story. From a fabulous team headed by Canada-based Sparrow Photography, this inspiration is about high end opulence and luxury, from sumptuous fabrics and dramatic hair and makeup to lavish pillars of roses and a stained glass style cake that is just BEYOND. So sit back and let all your princess wedding dreams come true, because this one is surely fit for royalty!
