Inspiration Board: Steampunk

This board was a request from a reader, and I love it! For those of you who may not know, steampunk is a literary subgenre that has recently had a growing impact on design and popular culture. The idea is to mix a Victorian or 19th century setting where steam power is still widely used with science fiction and futuristic technology. Think HG Wells or Jules Verne, and the world now as they might have imagined it then. (For more, have a look here.) It’s romantic and fun, and could make a great wedding theme. Some couples go all out (Rock ‘n Roll Bride has some stunning examples), but you could just as easily add Victorian touches to your decor to create a more subtle version of the theme.
