Have your cake…

So who does one of the UK’s top cake makers, whose creations have been ordered by the likes of Stella McCartney, Elton John and Trudi Styler, go to when she needs someone to make her wedding cake? In the case of Peggy Porschen, the answer is her protégé, local girl Roxanne Floquet. And I’m not surprised – just look at the kinds of gorgeousness that come from Roxy’s kitchen…

We featured Roxy’s own wedding on Tuesday (where Peggy returned the favour and made the stunning cake) and now I get the chance to show you how you can get a, er, slice of the action. After training at Silwood and honing her skills in London, Roxy is now offering her bespoke cakes, biscuits, cupcakes and petit fours to the good people of Cape Town. And just listen to some of these flavours:

• light sponge layered with spicy rooibos tea and white chocolate ganache and a tangy lemongrass curd
• velvety dark chocolate sponge muddled with fresh raspberries and layered with bittersweet dark chocolate and raspberry ganache
• light coconut sponge layered with pistachio and white chocolate ganache.
