Guest Blogger: Sparkle & Hay
Carrying on with our series of amazing guest bloggers while I run around crazily performing bridesmaid duties, today’s post is from the exceedingly lovely Erin of Sparkle & Hay. Erin was one of the very first bloggers I connected with, and her classy blog is a major inspiration to me since it’s absolutely chokka with gorgeous examples of rustic chic weddings. I’m honoured to call Erin a friend, and so grateful she was able to guest post for me!

Hello Cap Classique readers. Erin from Sparkle & Hay here and I am absolutely positively beside myself excited (and truthfully, a bit nervous) to be guest blogging for the lovely Gaby while she busy being a fabulous bridesmaid & celebrating the holidays. She politely gave me free reign on this post, so I thought I’d write a little something about one of my favorite things… sweets!
One of my top 5 favorite aspects of wedding reception décor is the dessert table. Far beyond the traditional statement wedding cake, dessert tables have become such a fun & pretty way to express your wedding inspiration. Often featuring items more than just the wedding cake, dessert tables are yet another way to showcase a couples’ personality. I love that these tables have become such an important part of reception design/styling and the possibilities for them are endless.
The Single Cake
Perhaps this can be called the traditional statement piece. So many options to dress up the single cake table; fun toppers, a special runner, or custom bunting or garland all personalize this sweet look.
The Cupcake Cake
The adorable cupcake wedding cake trend has swept the wedding world in the past few years; lending themselves to a whimsical & fun look, add a few risers or cake stands and voila – a beautiful table.
The Wedding Pie
A rustic favorite, wedding pies are yummy to look at and lend themselves well to being displayed right in their own colorful baking dishes.
The Mixed Treat Table
The ultimate in dessert personalization. This table often mixes a smaller cake with an assortment of the couples favorite desserts. Set up almost vignette style, these tables are a treasure trove for the eye to behold.
No matter which you choose, I would suggest this, make sure your photographers take photographs immediately after it is set because when you set up a table as pretty as these your guests are sure to love it… and devour every morsel!
Gaby, thank you so so much (again) for having me, I hope you are having a wonderful time on your trip & Happy Holidays!!!

We are loving wedding pies these days and so are our couples! Though we always appreciate a traditional wedding cake {especially if it’s as lovely as that first one}!

Hi Erin, What a delicious selection! The first cake is so elegant but I have to agree with Lena, the last table is so wonderfully whimsical.
