Swan Wedding #8: The Photography

I am super excited to share this post with you today! Yay!

There was one wedding decision that did not take us more than two seconds to decide upon. The pros and cons weren’t weighed up, our screaming budget had no leg to stand on and our hearts just raced ahead of our minds to close the deal. Our photographers, without a doubt would have to be the awesome and super talented couple (just married, by the way!), Travis and Maike of welovepictures! And we are THRILLED!

I admire their use of colour and light, the spontaneity that abounds in their shots, the creative and edgy angles, the love that seems to frame every photo they take. And let me tell you, they are one of the most awesome, fun and sincere couples I have ever met. I love these guys! :)

Dirk and I love photography and had a clear idea of what we wanted, but once we knew welovepictures would be shooting our wedding, it was easy and we did not feel the need to really brief them at all. We wanted them to do what they always do. Love shots. Period. (It’s going to be fantastic!)

Oh, and their AMAZING photobooths we want. We need!

From Travis and Maike:
They’re not memories yet, but they will be. So our aim is to give our clients a pleasure-filled, easygoing experience. A small, but awesome, part of the day they begin the life they are to joyfully recall, 50 years from now. With welovepictures, we hope to bring back something sorely missed in wedding photography today – joy and big fat laughs. We’re not the best, or even the most creative, but we do try to celebrate the wedding with our clients. This doesn’t mean we are there as loved ones, laughing, dancing, enjoying the atmosphere but we try to photograph as if we are. We get caught up in the joy of it and we hope the pictures reflect that somehow. We don’t have a formula, we often wing it and that gives its very own picture of the day. We have a new perspective, having recently married ourselves, of what our clients are going through and what they believe the pictures represent after the wedding has come and gone. We’re very lucky, and very grateful that God has given us such an awesome job.

welovepictures will be moving to Cape Town soon, which is seriously fantastic news for Cape brides and grooms! And in the meantime, you can catch more of their gorgeous work over on their blog.

Next time: Anelle has some great advice for those of you tackling the legal side of weddings.
