How to Style a Boho Wedding Tablescape

How to Style a Boho Wedding Tablescape

With March being our self-declared boho month, I thought it was time I break out our ten tables series once again, where I choose ten gorgeous tablescapes along a specific theme or look, and break them down into their individual components to help you mix and match your way to your own perfect tablescape. As with all boho styling, the great news is that anything pretty much goes, but choosing ten tables does give me a chance to highlight all the little boho ‘substyles’, such as boho luxe, woodland, beach, etc. and in that sense there’s loads of inspiration here for all kinds of brides and grooms. In each case, there’s a set of links so you can shop the look, as well as a DIY detail or top tip to help you get your table styling firmly on track. *Links in bold denote affiliate links. Boho Aisle Style

One wedding detail that often gets overlooked in styling articles is the ceremony – but as we all know, that’s the most important part of your day! And while the most important part OF that most important part is obviously the words you’ll say and the way you’ll feel and the people who’ll be there, it doesn’t hurt to pay a little attention to planning a beautiful ceremony area that befits your wedding style and where you can create the perfect backdrop to the most romantic moment of your lives. As it happens, boho brides and grooms have been doing ceremony styling particularly well, so I just had to round up 20 of my absolute favourite boho ceremony areas to inspire you this afternoon!Read More

Flower Walls & Backdrops

I never thought I would (actually, make that: fervently hoped I would not) be inspired by anything that Kimye did, ever. They are just the worst. But what can I say, the floral wall at their ceremony last year kind of rocked. And it just happens to be one of 2015’s biggest trends (along with floral arches). And OKAY, I admit it, I am loving it. Flower walls are just so over-the-top pretty, and they make an incredibly gorgeous statement piece for either a ceremony or a reception (or both!). Flower-intensive, with little in the way of greenery or stems, lush, colourful, and very romantic. So of course I’ve been rounding up my favourites from around the web – trust me, you’ll be seeing many more of them this year!Read More

Best of 2014: Aisle & Ceremony Decor

You know, sometimes on wedding blogs we get so caught up with the details of reception decor and dresses and colours, that the ceremony can get a little lost, but as we all know, that’s where the good stuff happens. That’s where you make the promises that will change your life in front of the people you love most in the world. After all, it’s the one part of a wedding day that you can’t do without! So I absolutely love when couples lavish the same sense of style and care on their ceremony that they do on the rest of their Big Day. Here are 15 of our aisle and ceremony decor favourites from the last year – sure to give you some inspiration!

Enamelware Wedding Details

Afternoon, brideys! You know how I’m always on the lookout for details that add a uniquely South African twist to your big day, so while today’s roundup isn’t a trend as such, it’s definitely a fun local-is-lekker addition to your decor and one that I’m seeing quite a few South African brides incorporate beautifully. Enamel tin mugs are a relatively inexpensive piece of tableware we’re all familiar with, but did you know you can pretty them up to make a fab wedding detail? Whether it’s as an escort card or favour (with or without the addition of a candle or a little plant inside), an addition to your table decor (at each place setting or as a centrepiece, especially if you include the enamelware kettles and pots in your scheme), or just a sweet way of serving drinks during cocktail hour or a late night coffee or hot chocolate bar, they’re sure to make your guests smile. My favourite place to buy the mugs for your wedding is The Perfect Day, who can custom engrave them with your design and sell at a bulk price for 48 mugs, making them perfect for favours. Here are some of my favourite ideas for using them.Read More

Forest & Woodland Wedding Details

If there’s one wedding style that’s really taken off in the last couple of years, it’s forest weddings. A gorgeous combination of the relaxed boho vibe, the rustic farm style and a touch of magical whimsy, it’s no wonder that we all want to go down to the woods today! I don’t know about you, but I was OBSESSED with the Magic Faraway Tree books when I was little, so I’ve always felt like there was something special about a forest setting, and it has the advantage for outdoor ceremonies of creating a sort of cathedral atmosphere, which is the perfect nod to tradition. In South Africa we’re really blessed with some absolutely breathtaking forest venues, so all you need to complete the look is the perfect whimsical woodland decor. That’s where Not On the High Street – one of my favourite indie shopping sites – comes in, because among their curated wedding collections is a fab selection of foresty accessories that add just that extra touch of thought and detail. I just had to share!Read More

Gold Foil Wedding Details

Afternoon, lovelies! As you know by now, I love nothing like I love a little sparkle, and recently I have been absolutely loving the little touches of gold foil that I’ve seen popping up in wedding design, especially those that have an imperfect textured look. So soft and pretty! I thought I would round up my favourites just for you – you’ll see how versatile this motif is, with everything from beauty ideas (including a stunning idea for short hair brides) to cakes and table decor details, and even an amazing Carolina Herrera dress with handpainted gold leaf detailing. Swoonage!Read More

Floral Ceremony Arches

For this week’s roundup, we’re turning to what is positively one of the prettiest trends in weddings at the moment: floral arches. And with so many South African wedding ceremonies happening outdoors, this is a perfect way to make an impact right from the get go. I am kind of obsessed with flowers myself, and the idea of walking up an aisle towards such a lush, incredible centrepiece (imagine the gorgeous fragrance as you say your vows!) just blows me away. Amazing. And I have a feeling you all are going to feel the same way too. Oh, and PS – as much as I love the flower-only arches, I am also kinda dying over the ones with curtains (or even a door). I mean, seriously. So romantic.Read More
