Attention all service providers, because no matter what your budget I have a deal that I am offering on SBB this December that you are going to want to hear about. As a small business owner myself, I know how difficult it can be to find the money for promotion, especially when you’re just starting out. And while the standard advertising rates I offer on SBB are competitive (contact me here if you’d like a media pack with details), I also know that some small, independent businesses can’t afford even these modest rates, especially at this time of year (which unfortunately is also peak season in South Africa!). It’s my passion to connect my readers with awesome suppliers, so this year I have come up with a way of helping out these small business owners and making this connection.
Here’s how it works. Every day in December, I’ll be offering a different kind of ad placing – these range from facebook page posts to product inclusion in an inspiration board, to Q&As and supplier spotlights that let potential customers know more about you and your business, to full-scale sponsored posts (see the end of this post for details on what each of these options mean). Every business taking part in the promotion will be listed on a special page and I’ll work with each advertiser to ensure that it’s quality editorial content we’ll be bringing to the blog, since just like you, I don’t want to read (or write) boring adverts. And here’s the best part – you can get a piece of this exposure for as little as £1. I don’t even know what that is in Rands today (about R14?) but it’s min. Here’s how it works: each advert will be priced according to the day on which it appears – so from £1 to £31 from the 1st to the 31st of December (see the calendar below for details). Some days you are getting more for your money than others, but even if you are purchasing a sponsored post on Day 31, you’re still making a big saving.
That’s not all – by purchasing one of these spots, you won’t just be supporting SBB and generating publicity for your business, you’ll be contributing to a fundraising initiative for Starfish that I’ll be launching soon, as I’m pledging 10% of all profits to the fund. And here’s another incentive: one lucky sponsor (from a random draw) will also win a month’s free banner advertising during the month of January. How does that sound? The ad spots are open to any businesses (as long as they are related to the wedding market) both in South Africa and in the rest of the world (remember, we have a strong audience in both the UK and US as well as SA) and there are no restrictions on the type of supplier although I’d particularly love to hear from small start-ups and crafters.
I’ll be opening up sale of the ad spaces this Friday (2 November) at 9am South African time (7am UK time). To purchase one of them, you’ll have to email me at [email protected] with the word DECEMBER as the subject, stating any preference you have for type of advert or date (otherwise you’ll be given the next available space at the lowest price). Sale will be strictly first come, first sold. Due to the nature of the offer, I’ll need to receive payment on the invoice within 24 hours, or the spot will be opened up for sale once again to give others a fair chance. Only one ad space will be offered per supplier, and general SBB T&Cs apply.
So… what do you think? I’m really looking forward to supporting small business owners, and on getting to know a crew of new suppliers and sharing their work with you this festive season, not to mention having an opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause. Keep your eyes peeled for a couple more ways I’ll be giving back this Christmas! :)
